A great news is that USB 4 is official ( which was promised to launch in march ) and it brings a lot of improvements over its previous version 3.2 and new USB 4 architecture is based on Thunderbolt protocol that Intel contributed to USB Promoters group. It is the new standard but it will come with same USB Type C port.
* Technical Specification about USB 4 standard. *
Technical Specification of the USB 4 architecture were announced today revealing that it will offers faster data transfer speeds and enhanced compatibility. The protocol used is Thunderbolt 3, which was Intel standards but now it is carrying a new monkier and available for all device maker to adopt and use.
In it's Official press statement the USB Implementers Forum has listed out the major upgrades in USB 4.
This architecture supports two lane operation using the existing USB Type C cable and upto 40 Gbps operation over certified cables. It is 8 times more fast than USB 3.2 Standard.
Efficient Data Display Handling
Multiple data and display protocol can effeciently share the maximum aggregate bandwidth over USB 4. This means if our display is utilizing X Gbps bandwidth out of 40 Gbps will be available for data transfer, power and more.
A newer protocol could make things difficult for users who are using devices with similar port, but USB 4 is backward compatible with USB 3.2, USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt 3.
Those were days like USB A connectors which cause a pain to connect sometimes. So, USB 4 is not including a new port but instead it's carrying forward the same USB Type-C reversible port. This certainly makes thing easier for everyone. There is currently no word on when the first USB 4-backed device is coming, but we can except to see the architecture being adopted by tech giants soon enough.
Tell me in comments that your phone has a USB Type C port and which USB standard is there and don't forget to like and share with your loved ones to make them aware.
